A real life time experience in Bhutan 2009 Solar Eclipse 22 July 2009

Ghale Treks and Tours presents The total solar eclipse of July 22 2009 will be visible across south-east Asia and the western Pacific. This will be a spectacular total eclipse, lasting over 6½ minutes at maximum and visible to millions of people over a path up to 258 km wide.

More information on this eclipse may be found at Fred Espenak's site. You can plot the eclipse for yourself using the table of mapping co-ordinates.

A total solar eclipse is when the Sun is completely covered by the Moon.

Eclipses happen on an average of about every 18 months. But not all are created equal. Some last just a few seconds; others darken the sky for up to seven minutes. And where they occur makes a huge difference. Some fall in the oceans while others take place in areas where frequent cloud cover, humidity or haze makes for poor viewing.
