Village Introduction:
Kumpur is a village located at Kumpur Village Development Committee (VDC) 2, Dhading District in the Bagmati Zone of central Nepal. At the time of the 1991 Nepal census it had a population of 7916 and had 1405 houses in it. altitude of around 1500 meters above sea level. The climate is ideal at any time during the September to June season with warm days and cool nights. the volume of over 50% peoples' lives tribe called GHALE and rest of verities tribes like Gurung, Braman, Newar, Sarki, Kami, Damai, Magar, Praja etc., They all have own different history, traditional, culture, rules and life style . The peoples most are farmers and some caste has own cultural profession.

The village layout with hillside areas, so it's nice and warm even throughout the winter, but still you have excellent views on the Annapurna range, Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu, Mardi Himal, Gauri sankar and lots of water falls with panoramic views and natural beauty which surrounds Kumpur.

SAARC No. 1 Village Tourism Destination Ghalegaun.
Annapurna circuit is one of the famous trekking routes in the world. Besisahar in lamjung district is one of the Gateways to Annapurna Region. The beautiful village recently listed as SAARC no. 1 tourism village Ghalegaun lies to the northwest of besisahar at an elevation of 2095 meters above the sea-level. Ghalegaun once a domin of Ghale kings before 18th century currently consists 128 households of Ghales, Gurungs and biswakarmas.

Annapurna Conservation Area (ACA) is one of the main tourist destination and world famous adventurous trekking route widely known for natural beauties and panoramic views of snowcapped high Himalayas. Ghalegaun, a small ghale and gurung village of uttarkanya vdc, lamjung is situated in the ACA. Ghalegaun has recently been developed as a tourist destination eminent for rural tourism under the coverage of ACAP.

When the group of tourists or the individuals reached ghalegaun, the villagers welcome their valuable guest with garlands, tika and traditional local musical bands. While music and dances are performed and traditional farewell songs are sung at the time of departure of guests. Tourism Management sub-committee distributes the guests equally among the households having the facility of homestay. At the present 42 households have opened their doors to the tourists. Guest is presented with traditional Gurung cultural shows at the community hall according the wish of the visitors. During the cultural show they perform Ghurung Ghantu dance, Krishna charitra dance, lama dance, Ghabre dance, Jhyaure dance, sorathi dance etc which fascinate the audience.

The same vantage point offers the beautiful sunset view and its effects on Himachuli, Buddha and manasulu Range. While leaving the villagers organize a farewell offering tika and garlands with some pleas to revisit the village next time.

It is found that natural, cultural as well as historical features have fascinated the visitors. Warm hospitality from arriving time to the departure time is explicable. To develop Ghalegaun as a unique destination among other villages, accommodation, sanitation, communication, road transportation should be upgraded as soon as possible. Promotion of Ghalegaun as a rural tourism within or beyond the nation is an urgent need to explore it among domestic as well as international visitors.
