Itinerary

Day 1: Kathmandu Arrival

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, a representative from Ghale Treks will be there to assist you and transfer you to your hotel. If you arrive early, take the opportunity to explore Thamel, the vibrant heart of the city. Enjoy a leisurely stroll through its bustling streets and vibrant shops. In the evening, savor dinner at one of the local restaurants in Thamel. You will then spend the night at your hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 2: Kathmandu Tour and Preparation for Climbing and Trekking

Your day will be dedicated to an enriching tour of the Kathmandu Valley, a region renowned for its numerous attractions. This tour offers a unique opportunity to explore key sites, including UNESCO World Heritage landmarks such as Boudhanath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, and Swayambhunath Stupa. While one day may not suffice to capture all that Kathmandu has to offer, you will experience some of its most significant cultural and historical sites. After concluding your sightseeing adventure, you will return to your hotel to prepare for your journey starting on Day 3.

Day 3: Drive by jeep to Pokhara

After an early morning breakfast, you will embark on a scenic jeep journey to Pokhara, located 201.2 km from Kathmandu, which will take approximately 6 to 8 hours. Upon arrival, you will enjoy overnight accommodation with excellent facilities. The vibrant nightlife in Pokhara offers a multitude of entertainment options, including live music concerts, breathtaking sunsets, and a variety of bars and clubs. After settling in, you can explore the picturesque lakeside area, savoring sunset views from a lakeside restaurant or bar, or even rent a boat to enjoy a serene excursion on the lake.

Day 4: Drive by jeep to Muri

After breakfast, you will embark on a Jeep ride from Pokhara to Muri, covering approximately 71.2 km over 4 to 6 hours. The journey will take you through picturesque villages and lush forests as you traverse through Darbang (1110m) and Sibang (1780m). The route is adorned with beautiful terraced farmlands of rice, barley, millet, and maize, providing plenty of opportunities for lunch and breaks along the way. Upon arrival in Muri, a quaint Magar village, you will stay at a tea house and enjoy a delicious dinner with your group, while also crossing the Dhara Khola and Myagdi Khola rivers during your trek.

Day 5: Trek from Muri to Boghara

On Day 6, your official trek to Dhamus Peak begins with an early departure from the village following a hearty breakfast. The day’s journey involves a steep trail leading to a suspension bridge over the Muri Khola, which you will cross before ascending along a path lined with dense bamboo and rhododendron forests. As you continue, you will pass numerous farmhouses, hiking toward the northern part of the valley, which opens up to expansive green fields just before reaching Boghara. Once you arrive, you will stay overnight at a tea house, enjoying the serene surroundings.

Day 6: Trek to Dobang

Leaving Boghara, you will hike towards Dobang, situated at 2520m, trekking along the banks of the Marsayangdi Khola. The route features lush subtropical forests until you reach Lipshe, where you’ll encounter small villages known for their locals who are famous for collecting wild honey. After a 4 to 6-hour hike, you will arrive at Dobang, which boasts numerous tented camp sites and tea houses. Your group will enjoy an overnight stay in one of the tea houses, immersing in the local atmosphere.

Day 7: Trek to Sallaghari

After breakfast, you’ll set out for a 5-6 hour hike from Dobang to Sallaghari at 3,100m, where the fresh mountain air and stunning scenery will invigorate your senses. The trek includes crossing the Kunaban Khola, allowing you to appreciate the beauty of the river and its landscape. After several hours, you’ll be rewarded with a panoramic view of Dhaulagiri I (8,167m) as you continue along the river, crossing the Pakite Khola before arriving at Pina Sallaghari. Although this day may be more challenging, the breathtaking natural beauty will leave you in awe. You’ll spend the night at a teahouse in Sallaghari.

Day 8: Trek to Italian Base Camp

After an early breakfast, you’ll embark on a hike to the Italian Base Camp at 3,660m, traversing a scenic route through pine, rhododendron, and fir forests on the west side of the Dhaulagiri region. As you navigate the rocky paths and forested areas, you may encounter moraine and boulders, as the base camp lies beneath the majestic West Face of Dhaulagiri I. From the Italian Base Camp, you’ll be treated to stunning panoramic views of Dhaulagiri III (7,715m), Dhaulagiri II (7,751m), and Dhaulagiri V (7,618m), making the hike a truly memorable experience.

Day 9: Trek to Glacier Camp

On day 9, prepare for a challenging 5-6 hour hike from Italian Base Camp to Glacier Camp, located at 4,200m above sea level, where you may experience altitude sickness. The day begins with a cup of coffee to fuel your journey, as trekkers will navigate slippery, icy glacier trails and traverse through the moraine leading to Chhonbardan Gorge. Glacier Camp sits at a significant elevation between Dhaulagiri Base Camp and Italian Camp, offering breathtaking views and a sense of achievement. Tonight, you will camp in tents at Glacier Camp, surrounded by the stunning beauty of the high mountains.

Day 10: Rest and Acclimatization Day

Acclimatization is crucial for a smooth trekking experience, particularly at higher altitudes where the air becomes thinner. To aid this process, you’ll have a full day of acclimatization at Glacier Camp. During this break, you can take a short hike around the camp to help prepare for the upcoming journey to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. After exploring the beautiful surroundings, you’ll return to your tented camp for meals and much-needed rest, ensuring you’re refreshed for the next leg of your adventure.

Day 11: Trek to Dhaulagiri Base Camp

Today marks a challenging leg of your journey as you embark on a five-hour hike to Dhaulagiri Base Camp, situated at an altitude of 4,748m. The route will primarily consist of rocky ridgelines and snow-covered moraines, necessitating caution due to the icy conditions. Upon reaching the Dhaulagiri Base Camp, you’ll be greeted by breathtaking views of majestic peaks, including Dhaulagiri V (7,618m), Dhaulagiri II (7,751m), and Dhaulagiri III (7,715m), as well as the prominent icefall cascading from the col between Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak (6,848m). After a rewarding day, you’ll settle into your tented camp at Dhaulagiri Base Camp for the night.

Day 12: Trek to Hidden Valley.

After resting at the tented camp in Dhauligiri Base Camp, you will embark on a hike to Hidden Valley, which sits at an elevation of 5,180m. This journey requires traversing the Chhonbardan glacier and lateral moraine, followed by an ascent through the challenging French Pass at 5,360m, where breathtaking views of Tukuche Peak (6,920m) and Dhaulagiri I (8,167m) await. As you navigate the glacier moraine, you’ll also catch glimpses of Thapa Peak (6,012m), Dhaulagiri I, and Sechi Lek (5,981m), along with majestic vistas of Mukut Himal (5,970m). After enjoying the scenery, you will ascend via an icy route into Hidden Valley, a recently discovered, expansive mountain valley concealed behind Dhaulagiri. You will conclude the day by spending the night at a tented camp in this serene valley.

Day 13: Trek to Dhampus Peak base camp.

After a night in Hidden Valley, trekkers will rise early to witness the sunrise illuminating the mountain peaks as they embark on a 5-6 hour trek to Dhampus Peak base camp at an elevation of 5,400m. The route is adorned with alpine vegetation and offers impressive views of the Himalayan mountain ranges, culminating in the ascent through the Dhampus Pass at 5,258m. As you navigate over icy terrain, you’ll gradually make your way to the high camp. Upon arrival, you can relax and take in the stunning vistas that surround you before settling in for the night at a tented camp in the Dhampus Peak base camp.

Day 14: Rest and Acclimatization Day.

Day 14 is dedicated to acclimatization, a crucial step in preparing for the summit of Dhampus Peak the following day. Trekkers will take this day to rest and explore the surrounding areas of the base camp while also organizing and checking all necessary gear and equipment for the climb. This time at the tented campsite of Dhampus Peak base camp will ensure that everyone is well-prepared and acclimatized for the upcoming ascent.

Day 15: Summit Dhampus Peak and Trek to Yak Kharka.

After 14 days of trekking, today marks the long-awaited summit of Dhampus Peak, standing tall at 6,012m. The journey begins early in the morning with a nutritious breakfast, and as you ascend, it’s essential to be mentally and physically prepared for the challenges ahead, with expert guidance to support you along the way. Upon reaching the summit, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of the Annapurna massif, Tilicho Peak (7,134m), Nilgiri, Dhaulagiri (8,167m), and Tukuche Peak (6,920m), among other stunning peaks. After soaking in the incredible scenery, you’ll descend to Yak Kharka at 4,018m, your final stay at a tented camp. Named for the yaks that once grazed the area, you’ll likely encounter many of these magnificent animals during your time here.

Day 16: Trek to Marpha

After a rewarding peak climbing experience, you will begin your descent on the 16th day, trekking from Yak Kharka to Marpha, which is situated at a more manageable elevation of 2,670m. This leg of the journey is relatively easy compared to previous days and takes you to the picturesque, stone-lined village of Marpha in the Mustang District of Nepal. The local community thrives by catering to trekkers and tourists, with the village renowned for its delicious apples and apple-based wines. Your overnight stay will be in cozy teahouses that combine traditional charm with modern amenities, including Wi-Fi, hot showers, and a menu featuring Western cuisine, allowing you to relax and unwind after your trek.

Day 19: Free Day in Kathmandu

Today’s itinerary promises an enriching experience as we embark on a city tour of the enchanting cities of Bhaktapur, Patan, and Kathmandu.
