Itinerary

Day 1Kathmandu Arrival

Upon your arrival, a representative from Ghale Treks will be waiting for you outside the terminal, holding a company display board. They will escort you to your hotel to ensure a smooth and comfortable transition.

Day 2Sightseeing and Trek Preparation

Kathmandu Durbar Square: A UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring key attractions such as Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Kumari Ghar, and Taleju Temple.

Swoyambhunath (Monkey Temple): An ancient stupa offering panoramic views, adorned with Buddha’s eyes, and home to many monkeys.

Pashupatinath Temple: One of the holiest Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, known for its pagoda-style architecture and cremation ghats along the Bagmati River.

Bouddhanath Stupa: One of the largest stupas in the world, representing a massive mandala and surrounded by prayer wheels and Tibetan monasteries.

In the evening, the trek leader will brief the group with all necessary trek information.

Day 3Fly to Nepalgunj

After breakfast, you will transfer to the Kathmandu Domestic Terminal to board a scenic flight to Nepalgunj, showcasing Nepal’s diverse landscapes. Upon landing in Nepalgunj, you will be transferred to your accommodation for an overnight stay, allowing you to rest and acclimate before continuing your journey.

Day 4Fly to Jumla (2370m)

From Nepalgunj, you will fly to Jumla at an altitude of 2,370 meters. Upon arrival, our camping team will greet you, and after settling in, you’ll have the chance to explore the lively Jumla Bazaar, immersing yourself in the local culture. You will then spend the night in Jumla, getting ready for the next stage of your journey.

Day 5Jumla to Danphe Langa (3500m)

Starting from the main street of Jumla, you will navigate through the bustling Jumla Bazaar before the trail begins to ascend gradually, taking you through Sisnamul at 2,830 meters. As you progress, you’ll enter a forest of towering trees, eventually reaching Chere at 3,010 meters, known for its vast pastureland for horses and sheep. The trail then steepens, meandering through picturesque meadows until you reach Danphe Lagna, where breathtaking views of Patrasi Himal (6,860 meters) and Jagdula Himal (5,785 meters) await. After soaking in the scenery, you will gently descend through spruces, birches, and rhododendrons to set up camp for the night at Danphe Lagna.

 

Day 6Danphe Lagna to Chautha (2770m)

From Danphe Lagna, the trail steeply descends through a dense forest of firs, birches, walnuts, and bamboo, leading you to Hiran Duski at 2,840 meters. Continuing along, you will reach the Sinja Khola river and cross the bridge, with the trail then following the river to Nyawre, located at 2,660 meters. Leaving the river behind, the trail ascends steeply to Kabra, and the climb continues to Bhara, a traditional Tibetan village at 2,920 meters. From Bhara, you will descend to the village of Chautha, where you will set up camp for the night.

Day 7Chauta to Dhotu (2380m)

From Chautha, the trail ascends through fields at Chante Chaur (2,940 meters) and continues to climb until reaching Bhulbule, the entrance station of Rara National Park, at 3,130 meters. Here, the trail gently ascends to Ghurchi Lagna, located at 3,450 meters, offering breathtaking views of the Mugue Karnali River and the snow-capped peaks bordering Tibet. The descent then leads you through a forest of spruce trees to Pina at 2,400 meters. Continuing along the route to Rara Lake, you will traverse a pine forest and cross the Jhyari Khola at the same altitude, finally arriving at the small settlement of Dhotu, where you will set up camp for the night.

Day 8Dhotu to Rara Lake (2980m)

From Dhotu, you will cross a stream and begin a steep climb through a cedar forest, which eventually leads to a vast meadow. At this vantage point, you will be rewarded with stunning views of Rara Lake. After a short descent, you will reach the shores of Rara Lake, where you will set up camp for the night.

Day 9Acclimatization in Rara Lake (2980 meters)

On your acclimatization day at Rara Lake, you will have the opportunity to explore the breathtaking surroundings. After a hearty breakfast, embark on a leisurely walk around Rara Lake, which spans approximately 13 kilometers. This serene body of water is home to otters and various fish species, making it a captivating destination for wildlife enthusiasts. The region boasts an abundance of birdlife, with numerous species to observe, as well as vibrant flowers and diverse wildlife, providing a unique and immersive natural experience. You will spend the night camping by the lake, allowing you to fully appreciate the tranquil and picturesque environment.

Day 10Rest and explore Rara Lake as well as surrounding hills

You will take an extra day off from trekking to fully immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of the true-blue Rara Lake, allowing for leisurely exploration of the surrounding areas. You can hike up the small hills encircling the lake, which provide panoramic views of the pristine waters and the stunning landscape. As you wander through Rara National Park, you may encounter a variety of wildlife, including leopards, ghorals, musk deer, Himalayan black bears, and the elusive red panda. Birdwatchers will find this region particularly rewarding, as it is home to an array of bird species. After a day filled with exploration and wildlife spotting, you will return to your tented camp for an overnight stay, surrounded by the serene and untouched beauty of Rara Lake.

Day 11Rara Lake to Gorosingha (3190m)

As you depart from Rara Lake, the trail follows the Khatyar Khola river, leading you to the village of Majhghatta. From there, you will ascend through a dense forest of pine, spruce, and rhododendron. The climb continues until you reach a meadow that opens onto a ridge at an altitude of 3,660 meters. Upon reaching the ridge, you will arrive at Ghurchi Mara, located at 3,710 meters, where you can take in spectacular views of the western Himalayas. The trail then descends into the Ghatta Valley, offering a refreshing change in scenery as you make your way toward Gorosingha. You will set up camp for the night in Gorosingha, surrounded by the region’s natural beauty.

Day 12Gorosingha to Sinja (2440m)

Leaving Gorosingha, the trail descends through the picturesque Ghatta Valley, following the Sinja Khola river along the way. As you walk through this fertile valley, you’ll encounter a densely populated region filled with numerous Brahman and Chhetri villages, offering a unique glimpse into the local culture and way of life. Continuing along the trail, you’ll eventually arrive at the historic village of Sinja, located on the banks of the Sinja Khola. This area, rich in history and natural beauty, provides an ideal setting for your overnight camp.

Day 13Sinja to Jaljala Chaur (3270m)

Departing from Sinja, the trail crosses the Sinja Khola river, guiding you through a series of charming small villages. Continuing on, you’ll traverse a serene forest filled with pines, birches, and oaks, providing a picturesque backdrop throughout your journey. The trail then begins a steep ascent, taking you higher into the mountains until you reach Jaljala Chaur at an altitude of 3,270 meters. Here, you will set up camp for the night, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of the high-altitude meadow.

Day 14Jaljal Chaur to Jumla (2370m)

From Jaljala Chaur, your journey begins with a climb through a dense forest, followed by a descent to a small settlement near Chauri Khola at an elevation of 3,090 meters. The trail continues with a series of descents that showcase picturesque landscapes. Along the way, you’ll pass by a local school in the village of Ghurumati, giving you a glimpse into the daily life of the local community. Ultimately, you will arrive in Jumla, where you can set up camp for the night, surrounded by the serene beauty of the region.

Day 15Fly to Nepalganj connecting flight to Kathmandu

Start your journey with a flight from Jumla to Nepalgunj, and upon arrival, you will catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu. After landing in Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel, providing you the opportunity to relax and unwind after your travels.

Day 16A leisure day in Kathmandu

Spend a leisurely day in Kathmandu, with a variety of options to maximize your time. Begin your morning with an early mountain flight to Everest, showcasing stunning views of the world’s highest peak. Alternatively, consider extending your stay with tours to remarkable places like Chitwan, famous for its rich wildlife and jungle safaris, or Lumbini, the serene birthplace of Lord Buddha. Whether you opt to explore the majestic mountains or immerse yourself in Nepal’s cultural and natural wonders, your day is sure to be filled with unforgettable experiences.

Day 17Departure
