Day 10-39: Rotation: [Basecamp – Rotation (Camp I, Camp II and Camp III) – Basecamp]

The rotation is a strategic acclimatization process used by climbers to gradually adapt to high altitudes before attempting a summit. It involves:

  • Moving to Camp II: Located approximately at 6,400 meters, further increasing altitude acclimatization.
  • Proceeding to Camp III: Situated near 7,200 meters, where climbers spend time to adapt to even higher elevations.
  • Descending back to Base Camp: Rest and recover before potentially repeating the rotation or attempting the summit.

This process helps reduce the risk of altitude sickness and improves the chances of a successful summit by gradually acclimatizing the body to the thin air at higher elevations.

Overnight in the tent.

  • Summit Push to Lhotse Summit (8,516 meters): Climbers make their final, challenging ascent to reach the Lhotse Summit, the world’s fourth-highest peak. This involves navigating steep ice and snow slopes, often in the early morning hours to avoid afternoon weather deterioration.

Climbing Mount Lhotse with Ghale Treks was honestly one of the most incredible experiences of my life. The whole 60-day journey was tough, but the team made it feel manageable and safe every step of the way. The guides were fantastic so experienced, patient, and encouraging, especially when things got challenging at high altitude.

Ghale Treks really took care of everything, from organizing the logistics to making sure we had good food and comfortable accommodation along the trail. Their attention to detail made a huge difference and let me focus on the climb instead of stressing about the small stuff. The guides’ advice and support kept me motivated even when the altitude was taking its toll.

I’m genuinely grateful for the care and professionalism of the team. This wasn’t just a climb – it was a life-changing adventure, and I couldn’t have asked for a better company to share it with. Highly recommend Ghale Treks to anyone dreaming of conquering the Himalayas!
