Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Paro – Thimphu (1.5 Hr)

Start your journey with an early morning flight from Kathmandu to Paro, Bhutan (please confirm flight timings). Upon your arrival at Paro Airport, our guide will warmly welcome you and transfer you to Thimphu. After lunch, visit the Memorial Chorten, a temple dedicated to the late 3rd King, where locals, particularly the elderly, gather to chant prayers and socialize. Explore the Changangkha Lhakhang, the oldest temple in the valley, which offers stunning views of the surroundings. Next, visit the enclosure housing Bhutan’s national animal, the Takin, before proceeding to see the majestic and newly constructed Buddha statue that provides panoramic views of the entire Thimphu valley. After 5 PM, tour the historic Tashichho Dzong, the fortress that serves as the king’s throne. In the evening, enjoy a leisurely stroll through the lively streets of Thimphu, the largest and most vibrant town in Bhutan.

Day 2 Thimphu – Punakha (3 Hrs)

In the morning, explore the lively weekend market (Friday to Sunday), where locals sell produce and barter for essentials. Visit the Handmade Paper Mill and the School of Arts and Crafts, where students learn 13 traditional Bhutanese arts. Discover the Folk Heritage Museum and the National Library, which houses a rich collection of religious texts. Continue to Dechenphodrang Monastic School to meet young monks, then visit Zilukha Nunnery to interact with the nuns. After lunch, drive to Punakha, crossing the Dochula Pass (3,200m) for stunning views of Bhutan’s highest peaks. Stop to walk around the 108 stupas before reaching Punakha, and enjoy a scenic hike through paddy fields to Chimi Lakhang, the temple of fertility.

Day 3Punakha – Paro (4.5 Hrs)

After breakfast, embark on a drive to Punakha Dzong, renowned for housing the most elaborate temple in Bhutan—an essential site that showcases the country’s rich art and architecture. After your visit, retrace your route to Paro, with a potential lunch stop in Thimphu. Post-lunch, take the opportunity to explore any sights you may have missed earlier. Upon your arrival in Paro, visit Paro Dzong on foot and stroll across the ancient wooden bridge that remains in use today. As you wander through the charming old town of Paro, take time to browse local handicraft shops and perhaps catch a glimpse of a traditional archery match. Conclude your day with a relaxing evening back at your hotel.

Day 4Paro Sightseeing

In the morning, drive to the trailhead for a three-hour uphill hike to Tiger’s Nest, the most revered temple in Bhutan, dramatically perched on a granite cliff overlooking the Paro Valley. The majority of your day will be dedicated to this rewarding trek. If time and energy permit on your return, consider visiting Kichu Lakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest temples, which signifies the dawn of Buddhism in the country. A relaxing hot stone bath is available at an additional cost. Conclude your day with a farewell dinner alongside your guide.

Day 5Departure

In the morning, enjoy a brief 15-minute transfer to the airport for your departure flight to Kathmandu. Your guide will be there to bid you farewell as you embark on your journey.
